Mindfulness Meditation
Sometimes it feels like you're on a treadmill, without a way off. Or you're up at 3 in the morning with racing thoughts and can’t fall back asleep. Or you can’t even fall asleep in the first place. Exhausted, stressed, anxious, maybe even feeling physical aches and pains.
I offer multiple paths to learning the practice of mindfulness meditation, depending if you’d like to learn at your own pace or with a group.

Maybe you’ve been curious about mindfulness meditation, heard that it is something that can help. “There’s no way I could sit in silence!" you think. Every time you try to sit and clear your mind, you can’t, and it’s frustrating, so you stop.
I totally get it. This used to be me - stressed, anxious, unable to sit quietly without thousands of thoughts racing through my mind. I figured it was more productive to just get up and do all the things, but that just led to increased stress, and then it’s back on the treadmill again. I discovered meditation in 1998 and haven’t looked back… to say it’s changed my life is an understatement! You can read more about my story if you want.
Mindfulness meditation plays a vital role in the therapeutic process as well. As a practice for me, it allows me to track your emotional waves, moment-to-moment, and remain attuned to you. As a practice for you, learning how to be in the moment and with whatever arises privileges your truest experience and enables you to release long-held emotion. It also dramatically reduces anxiety and improves mood.
Mindfulness meditation can help you get off of the treadmill and back into your life. Put simply, it’s a way to train your brain (and your body) to stay in the present moment. Research shows benefits including lower blood pressure, increased productivity, less stress, anxiety, and depression, increased immune system function… the list goes on and on.
I’ve completed a 200 hour Mindfulness Meditation teacher training with Zenways founder Julian Daizan Skinner, and am working towards my IMTA certification. In addition to the Zen masters, contemporary teachers who’ve influenced my work in this space are Jon Kabat-Zinn, Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Pema Chodron, Thich Nhat Hanh, Ram Dass, to name a few. I’m also particularly interested in the intersectionality of mindfulness meditation, consciousness, and spirituality as explored by people like Michael Singer, Dr Elaine Aron, and Meggan Watterson.
Meditation is not something you do, it is something you are.
